Brief Biography: Born in Mar 25, 1830 Lawrenceburg, KY to Nelson Cole Johnson and Frances Pennington Smith. His father died of cholera when he was young. He held various jobs settling in St. Joseph July 4, 1857. He held various jobs and titles. He worked for M. Jeff Thompson until the Civil War troubles began. He had to resign his position there and was appointed city engineer. He was bookeeper for Buchanan Life and General Insurance Company, then for the banking house of John Colhoun & Co. ash cashier, then in the Colhoun bank as assistant cashier. He became involved in railroads. He was involved in city politics. He was a trustee of the Francis Street Methodist Church in St. Joseph He married Mary Kurtz Colhoun and they had 7 children. The children are Marietta C., Fannie, E., the wife of Dr. Daniel Morton; Blanche T., the wife of J.Kay Grundy, Mry K., wife of wallace Swank, Nellie P., Nannie P., and E. Percival Johnson. His funeral was held at his residence 1024 Angelique.
